We study the problem of stock replenishment and transshipment of stocks in the retail industry. We develop a model that can accommodate different policies, including centralized redistribution (replenishment) and decentralized redistribution (lateral transshipments). Similar versions of this problem have already been studied in the literature, typically resulting in mixed-integer linear programming problems. In this paper we develop a specific algorithm to solve this problem and compare its performance with the direct resolution of the given MILP problems via state of the art solvers. We also present a case study using real data from a Spanish clothing retail company.
